Yes, God has a plan to rescue Venezuela

We are living in arguably the most exciting, but dangerous time in history.  Christianity is now viewed by the secular world as evil and dangerous while every form of perversion and corruption is celebrated.  We are in a war for the souls of mankind.   Isaiah 5:20 says, “What sorrow for those who say that evil is good and good is evil, that dark is light and light is dark, that bitter is sweet and sweet is bitter.”

Our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, gave all Christians clear marching orders.  Matthew 28:18 says, “Jesus came and told his disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.  Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.  And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’”

Satan has worked very hard for generations to destroy the people of Venezuela.  He has used sorcery, witchcraft, corruption, violence and deception to promote an environment of fear, hopelessness and despair.  The hardline, leftist governments of the last 16 years have forced out many Christian organizations and greatly reduced the number of foreign missionaries.  Reputable sources report that 5-10% of the population are Evangelical Christians, but most people have still not heard about Jesus Christ.

Delia & I have been serving as missionaries in Venezuela since 2011.  We have a unique connection, because my parents served as missionaries in Venezuela from 1957 until 1983.  The Lord has led us to work with Christian churches in the Andes Mountains in western Venezuela, in the southern and eastern jungles of the Amazon and the Delta Amacuro, in the plains of the “llanos” in central Venezuela, in the big cities (Valencia, Maracay, Caracas, Barcelona, Puerto La Cruz, Barquisimeto) along the northern coast and on the Islands of Margarita and Coche.  A destroyed economy, the world’s highest inflation and scarcity of almost every basic necessity makes it very difficult to send and support local missionaries.

In late 2013 we began to feel that God wanted us to help prepare teams of self-sustaining Venezuelan missionaries.  These would be able to produce their own food and water, create necessary income and build their own lodging.  We believed and God orchestrated what seemed impossible.  On April 27, 2015, we brought a team of select Venezuelan missionaries to Texas and for 6 months they received training in dairy cow and poultry farming, beekeeping, water-well drilling, organic gardening, food preservation and fermentation, molasses production, sewing, team-building and other skills necessary for survival.  On October 19th, 2015, having finished their training, the team returned to their homes on the Island of Margarita in Venezuela.  Now starts their work in Venezuela.

The goal is to displace the darkness in Venezuela with the Light of Jesus Christ.  This is a God-size vision.  To do this we will need to saturate many strategic locations with Light-bearers.  This will require hundreds of trained volunteer missionaries able to support themselves.  To achieve this, we will build a primary training center.  There we will begin to train the teams that will go and establish new, permanent Christian communities around Venezuela.  These Christian communities will themselves become training centers, food/water production centers and church planting centers. These Christian teams will teach the surrounding communities how to create food and water, share with them the Good News about Jesus and train new volunteer missionaries to do the same.

The map of Venezuela shows 35 locations where we plan to send teams of Light-bearers over the next 7-10 years.  To do this we will need your help.  The Gifts of Love Catalog offers a list of needs for the team in Venezuela and various ways you can help.
